Tips to make your tattoos last longer?

We know how much effort and creativity goes into designing your favorite semi-permanent tattoo, and of course, you want it to last as long as possible! While semi-permanent tattoos are meant to fade eventually, there are some tips and tricks to help you enjoy your design for an extended period.
Here’s how you can maximize the longevity of your semi-permanent tattoo stain:
1. Let It Sit for Longer Than You Think
The standard recommendation is to leave the tattoo on for at least an hour. However, after feedback from many of our customers, we’ve found that leaving it on for longer results in a darker, more vibrant stain—something most people love! We suggest keeping your tattoo on for at least 3 hours before washing or peeling it off. The longer it stays, the more intense the color. If you’re aiming for a deep, rich stain, try extending the application time even further.
Pro Tip from InkZone: “Personally, I like to apply my tattoo right before bed, after a shower. I cover it with tattoo film or sports tape and leave it on overnight for maximum effect.”
2. Seal Your Design with Cling Wrap or Sports Tape
Once your tattoo has dried, covering it with cling wrap or sports tape can protect the design and help it develop more effectively. Our Jagua ink kits come with a complimentary piece of tattoo film—use it when the ink begins to dry out or lose potency, especially as the ink nears its expiration. This helps the stain set more deeply and evenly.
3. Be Gentle While Bathing
When showering, avoid scrubbing the area where your tattoo is. The less friction, the better! Light washing is fine, but over-scrubbing will cause the tattoo to fade more quickly. Opt for gentle cleansers and pat the area dry rather than rubbing it.
4. Moisturize Regularly
Keeping the skin moisturized can help the tattoo last longer and maintain its vibrancy. Dry skin tends to flake off more quickly, taking the tattoo with it. A light, non-oily lotion will do wonders for preserving your design.
By following these steps, you can keep your semi-permanent tattoo looking fresh and vibrant for days longer than usual. Enjoy your beautiful artwork!
